How Does Teeth-in-a-Day Work for Adults Missing Teeth?
With traditional implants, a dental implant post is placed in the jaw bone and allowed to heal over a period of three to six months, to allow fusion of these posts into your jaw bone, creating a secure hold for your teeth. Once this osseointegration is complete, your implant post is surgically uncovered as needed from the gum line before it is ready to accommodate your permanent teeth. Temporary teeth or no teeth, in some cases, may be worn in the interim. If temporary teeth are given, they are usually in the form of loose uncomfortable dentures.
While Teeth-in-a-Day procedure is still performed using dental implants, the difference is that our team of dental specialists can completely restore smiles for adults missing teeth within the same office visit. Teeth-in-a-Day may be performed immediately following an extraction so that you do not experience any downtime without functioning teeth. Some adults missing teeth, however, may not be good candidates for this restoration method. Those patients who do not have sufficient bone density, for example, would require additional or alternate procedures.
